Headed to whitney with the yak yesterday at 6 am. Hit the water in search of sandbass or striper because I had reports from the previous three weeks were on fire. Nada. See some trees and said let's look for crappie. Trees 16 to 30 ft caught 15 keeper crappie lost a dozen more. Minnows and jigs didn't matter.

Whites and Stripers were on fire the first 3 weeks of May because the shad were spawning. They turned off about May 25 because the shad had finished spawning and moved to deeper water.

Caught more this year than ever in our slip @ Harbor Master and now -- Notta . About 4 weeks ago they all just left . Guess they went to deep water . On a side note , I have never seen the water this clear .

The other day I measured how deep I could see in the water. Standing in the boat I can see 14 1/2 feet deep into the water. It is absolutely beautiful.

That's no joke, last striper trip out it was being about 30 miles offshore. You could the stripers chasing the slab. When hooked up you could the fishes color 15-20 feet down.

Must be infested with zebra mussels now roflmao

That was the first thing that came to mind when i saw how clear the water was. I was cruising around the island and you could easily bass swimming in 7-10 fow like an aquarium.
