Wow...the "Lunch" itself was well worth the drive. We didn't need to eat again until supper the next day. Fantastic vittles, and the fishing, oh my, the fishing was beyond description. We watched BIG Bass and all flavors of sunfish, just swimming around waiting for anything we had to offer. Great folks live in that part of the country and Pot licker and and Gar1970 are among the best. Again thanks to Banker and our Hosts for all the great memories.  Plus #1.

Great post and some very nice fish. Good job guys!  Side Note: The Nueces Canyon is a very beautiful place and holds some very good fishing spots. Myself and two of my friends will be making our second three day float and camping trip to the canyon very soon! Will be fishing both the Frio and Nueces Rivers. Chuck: Have you fished the Chalk Bluff area this year? If so how was the fishing?

Thanks Curtis for the reply!  I have not fished Calk Bluff yet this year. I have fished the Canyon three times this year and did well all three times. The rivers are in good shape. The area has also gotten some good rain this year. Side Note: Hope your trip goes well. Stay safe out there!

Thanks Chuck. Will be making camp there again at Chalk Bluff! Met the owner last year and he seems to be a pretty nice guy! The area was pretty clean and we had a good night there. He also told us about some cold springs that run into the river close by Chalk Bluff. Other anglers say you can catch Rainbow Trout year around there!

I heard the same thing about the Rainbow Trout. There are a couple of cold water springs on the back side and the trout are able to survive year around. I heard that a private organization stocks the trout once a year during the winter.

Thanks Gitter for the reply. Will be fishing the Sabinal soon.  I have fished the Sabinal twice this year so far! Creek fishing has been super GOOD and has kind of kept me off of the rivers!

Would be interesting to see how the bite on the smaller rivers is. Bet it's GOOD! If the bite on the rivers is anything like the bite on the creeks it will be totally AWESOME!
