Bought some distilled water today to add to the boat batteries.

Had a 29 series trolling battery that I bought at Walmart in 11/17. So not very old. It took almost 1/2 gallon of water to get it back to the correct level.

Other 2 batteries took about a cup a piece. So just because you purchase a new battery, it doesn't mean there isn't a reason to check the water level.

I would check the output of your battery charger.

For any battery brand, there is a code stamped on the battery. Don't pay attention to the tag that says 'this date'. It is the coded date on the battery itself that matters the most. Use Google to get what the codes mean.

sometimes if you have a weak cell, the charger will run and run to try and achieve full charge, the result is heat, and evaporation of the electrolyte. Or there could be leakage and this causes the same thing. may want to go to autozone or orielys and have them load tested.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !
