Thanks

I'm using the Navionics Platinum South and love it. Free upgrades for the first year.

You cant go wrong with the Navionics Platinum South card, but if you don't care about the satellite overlay (gives you google type imagery for land and water), you may also take a look at the Nav+ Regions South card. It has the exact same Nautical data and Sonar Chart layer just like the Platinum card, but it also has more coverage of the coast and will save you $50.00. The only thing the regions card does not have is the Aerial overlay and 3d capabilities.

I have had the Nav. Platinum south for about 5 years now. Would the updated 100$ card be worth the coin?

In my opinion, it would be worth doing the update due to the fact that Navionics averages approx 20,000 updates per week with the Sonar Chart program and other recordings. A card that old is right on the line of if it has the Sonar Chart layer, do you know if it does? Is it a 16GB card? What chartplotter are you running? If it does not have the Sonar Chart layer, you can go to the Navionics webapp and turn the layer off and it will show you the same data as you have now, turn it back on and it will show you the updates and or changes to the areas you fish. I always recommend looking on the webapp at the areas or lakes you fish to see if there is sufficient updates or improvements to justify spending the money, if your area or lakes have great mapping on them and nothing has changed then it is hard to justify, but that is very seldom the case IMO.

Navionics here too, I added the Legends of Lake Fork chip, for that you must switch it back to lowrance but that chips shows all of the actual bottom. Where the brush starts and stops. Comes in handy on Fork

Is the Legends card the card that shows the lake before it was flooded? There was a guy at the Sealy Tournament a couple years back that was pushing a card like that. He said it was a little slow to run off of just due to so much data, so he recommended running the Navionics card while running or for most of the time, but once you shut down and start looking around the swap back and forth. Seemed like a really good tool to have, but the one I saw he told me it was only compatible for Lowrance.
