Are there any decent areas I should look out for when searching for shad on Lake Buchanan? Been having some difficulties finding them on my recent outings. I usually put in at the Burnet County Park, thanks!

If you get there early enough you can get them at the ramp or off to the side. If not run you toward Hi-Line, back of silver creek, The Coves around Pelican Point are usually always good.

Try to find a 3-5 ft hole surrounded by timber or brush in a creek. Under a bridge is a good place to start.

Is there a bridge that goes over the lake?

There is no Bridge over Buchanan. Bridge is over Inks and its a great place to lose nets LOL Shad on Buchanan really isn't that hard. Back of creeks as sun gets up is usually easy. Right across from Hi-Line is Chimney Slough, the cove to the west of it is usually good. Also the cove in Paradise Point is usually good. On the south end on the East side ( Cassie ) the Creeks that feed into the lake are usually good. on The west side around Llano County ramp can be good if the Tweakers have't gotten there yet and the Edgewater Cove is good. Red Rock is almost always Money.

Thanks Brando. I just emailed your post to myself so I can reference it on Saturday. I have heard that the lake is a little stained right now which will make catching shad easier. Only lake I ever had much trouble in was the lower end of Whitney. Pulled up in to a cove looked at depthfinder and it read 15', shutdown big motor, grab net and step on front deck, look down and I can see bottom clearly. Decided to look for shad elsewhere.

The upper end of the lake is usually a little more stained than down at the damn. At our dock at Big Chief you can see down about 5ft
