Casted out a Fred Arbogast 7.5" AC Plug today for the 1st time in over 15 years.

2nd cast caught a 3 pounder and the 4th cast caught a 4.5 pounder.
Caught a few more 3 pounders and had several bumps on the lure.
Caught one not much bigger than the lure.

I assume that these lures lost their popularity due to the evolution of the hard swim-bait market.

Now if I can only find some weedless swim-baits.

Excellent choice for Bass chasing bait. Stay after them while it last. Next time you may wear the hide off of the AC and nothing. Keep changing it up and let that Tank rest as much as possible. The more you fish it the less accommodating the Bass will be.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.

Brings back memories of Fork in the early-90's when the big fish schooled at the Big Mustang bridge.

You won't have any problem finding weedless swimbaits. Look on Tackle Warehouse. If you are in the DFW area Anglers Pro Tackle has a great selection.

Yeah that's the first thing I thought of when I saw the AC plug in the topic was the Mustang Bridge and Stella's bait shop..

In order to catch Big Fish..Sometimes you gotta Suffer.

Problem I ran into with them is the soft plastic tail section would start to melt the paint on them. Have what use to be a pristine red one that never saw water and the rear section has half its paint turned into a slimy goo.

Glad to hear that people remember this lure.
I had to replace a tail a few times back in the 90's.

I have 9-1/2" as well that I purchased on eBay.
My only issue with this one is its weight as I do not currently have a rod that can handle it.
Also, the treble hooks are massive and shiny.
I might change out the hooks and go slightly smaller but I am not sure how that will effect the swimming action of the lure

I do see that AC Plug has its own website for the replacement tails as well as newer lure designs as well.

With regards to weedless swimbaits, do any of you use the paddle tail swimbaits?
If so, are you using a screw-in weighted hook instead of a jig head?

Thanks

I like to throw those. A cloudy day when they are chasing the shed is the ticket. The nice thing about the AC plug it the large hooks. If they hit it they will not be coming off.
