I go a bit different...use a 4' or 5' steel t-post and then attach a 10" piece of pvc to the top portion with hose clamps. Easy to push that baby as deep as you want it and the flat blade on the bottom keeps it in place.

I have (2) 44” aluminum rod holders from Academy. They fit in m 45” rod hod case with a few two-piece fishing rods. It works pretty well for me to take the rod case to my sister-in-law’s beach house. If I did not have the rod case and beach house access, I would cut a 10’ PVC pipe in half using a 45 degree angle like others have suggested.
