To dove tail onto the Kentucky lake drama.
There is a big tournament coming up where a lot of people will be rubbing rails with each other. Skeeter Owners will likely have over a 1,000 boats on Fork. What are your unwritten rules you follow and think others should.
Here are mine: I try to keep a distance where we cannot cast and get our lures entangled. So if you can cast 50 yards in my direction and I can cast 50yrds in your direction I'll keep 100 yrds off. But if someone is beating the bank, I feel I can fish a long cast away from them and fish the deep water on the other side of their boat so just 50 yards off.
IF I am fishing down a bank and another boat is coming down and I will stop fishing, put it on high and get around the boat as quickly as possible.
What drives me nuts is when I am casting at a point, repeated cast consistently in one spot, and another boat comes in to where I am casting. So close that if I make the same cast again I hit the boat.

The Kentucky Lake incident proves that the words of "etiquette & courtesy" are now a thing of the past. Old tradition of other competitors yielding water to tournament leaders if gone. That carries over into the WAY people are today. If you yield you're the loser. If you barge on with no regard for others fishing an area, you're just doing what it takes to win. Behavior & courtesy in Tournament fishing has evolved as much as electronics, equipment, etc etc. Sadly when all the accessories IMPROVED during the evolution the behavior & courtesy part of it didn't improve. It actually de-volved into a Live or Die type everyday attitude. Option 1: be the same person you always have been & continue to be courteous & yield to others that aren't courteous & respectful of others. Option 2: be a new style fisherman without regard to what ANYONE else thinks, wants , or does, because its ALL about you & what YOU want now. I want to believe there's still a LOT of good people out there. Its actually refreshing nowadays when meeting another fisherman coming down the bank the other way & at the same time you BOTH start away from the bank to let the other guy go through. Ive actually had it happen & we both started laughing & said (at the same time) " Wow, an old school person fishing down a bank." Ran into them at ramp later & we enjoyed a short visit laughing about the etiquette issues of fishermen now.

Keep in mind. Its the Skeeter Owners Tournament. Its an appreciation tournament. Have fun and try to cash a check or win a boat. Then get on here and complain about someone fishing the boat lanes.

didn't someone once say "money is the root of all evil" ...? what scares me most is the disregard for boating safety,.. I'd like to see more Game Wardens on the lake when traffic is high.

Totally disagree, why would he need to yield that spot to the leader since HE went there and loaded his boat FIRST on the FIRST day then left... Wouldnt it be his spot since he was FIRST or is it only your spot if you camp on it the rest of the day? That is what he could have done loaded his boat and camped if he chose to and the whole thing would have been a non factor... I do agree on yielding and the state of fishing is a bit sad now, I had a 84 glastron until mid summer last year, everyone was kind courteous and chatty. Now that I stepped up to a new boat loaded with talons 12 inch screens etc. I can see each person I approach wondering if Im an azzhole or not, they very seldom ever speak to me first... I bought a straw hat and wear it now thinking maybe it will help make me not look like a pro...haha and it keeps the sun off well too boot.

How about the guy/wife/kids in the boat lanes last year pulling the kids on a tube during the Skeeters. I guess he liked all the boat wakes to make a ruff ride... Here is your sign!!!!!!!
