My Father and I are planning to try Lake Conroe while down in the area visiting family this weekend. Neither of us have been out on this lake and I know it will probably be jam packed. We'd like to get down there around sunrise on Saturday morning and fish to about lunch time. I imagine it will get too crowded to even be out there past noon. Any regulars out there have an idea of where we should put in and areas of focus to stay out of the pleasure boaters way? After looking at TPWD website, Stow-A-Way or FM 830 ramp look okay. 1097 bridge seems to be a popular spot for crappie.

The farther north you can go the better off you will be Saturday. Stow-A-Way is a good choice. I have not been on the lake up there in a while, I do not fish Conroe very often and live close, one of the roughest lakes in the country. Be safe.

We thought about Lake Livingston as a second option. We've been out there but it has probably been around 12 years or so and we were mainly running trot lines.

With the rain we have had Livingston may be a mud hole. I am not a big crappie guy, but saw your post and wanted to give you a heads up. There is the Cagle ramp up north that might be an option on Conroe, but the rains may have it muddy up there.

Thanks for the heads up.
