I dont know what youre missing. I do it online. Get inspection, its in the system. Take my registration notice I got in the mail, go to the website, fill out what I need, give credit card information, wait a few days, receive new registration and sticker.

My wife, who struggles with everything, has not struggled with this.

Its easier in the country. Inspection done easy. One block to courthouse. No line, same ladies that have known me for years. Get plates and sticker, back to inspection station, they bolt on new plates and R&R sticker and Im gone.

Same thing every year for 20+ years.

I'll typically renew by mail & just include a copy of the inspection page. Sometimes I'll renew in person at Tom Thumb because I can go there in the evening and there's no line.

(yes, Tom Thumb processes vehicle registration renewals at their customer service counter)

Most major grocery stores do them also. In and out in under 5 minutes.
Hmmm, kinda like my sex life frown

I will never do the online registration again. Austin took control with the two step program. This means that the stickers are generated in Austin and they 3rd party out to print and mail the stickers. So after 3 weeks, I got NO stickers in the mail. I did both my truck and RV. Both stickers never came. Called Austin and they said i would have to go to local and pay for a lost tag and a duplicate fee. WTH. I called the Governors office with a complaint. The Governors office called Austin and made them resend them. They have no way to track the stickers once they leave the 3rd party printers. Either some miscreant USPS thief grabbed them or the 3rd party printer never sent them.
Never, ever again. I will go to my local rockwall tax office for every sticker

Tell her to call Greg Abbots office. They took my info and within a few hours I got a very apologetic phone call from someone high up in the Austin licensing division. He told me they would send out a new set and if the old ones showed up to turn them into the local office. The local Rockwall office said they did not like the new system. I should say that this 2 Step 1 Sticker online system is different from the Local Online purchase system. But after the last fiasco when I found out that there is no tracking on the stickers, I will make the time to go and buy them. I had to drive around for a week or so with expired stickers. No telling what thug bastage has my other stickers.

You shouldn't have to take your inspection report to the tax office or Tom Thumb or wherever you're getting your registration renewed. As soon as the inspector completes your inspection, it's in the system in Austin and the folks at the tax office or Tom Thumb can see that. All you need is a passed inspection within 90 days prior to the date you're renewing. Not saying it wouldn't be a good idea to take your inspection report with you because it's the state and computers are involved, but technically it's not required. They know whether you passed or not within the previous 90 days if everything works the way it's supposed to.
