Drowning on lake conroe

A 54 year old man flipped his kayak on conroe and drowned near a boat ramp. One report says he was 56, unsure.
People from the shore saw him but couldn't get to him fast enough.
He had a life jacket strapped to his kayak.

It's a solid reminder to all of us, that maybe the life jacket isn't comfortable,but it would have saved his life.
At the very least, wear an Inflatable. Anything is better than nothing.

I watched a lady and two teen girls which I assume were her daughters launch their two kayaks, get in and paddle off while the mother got back into her truck and drove off, probably back to their campsite. The kayaks were sit inside so they could have the PFD inside the hull, but they never put them on if they were. I see this more often than not on our local lakes. It's sad when there is a drowning, but people just don't think it will happen to them.
