So I hit Benbrook Lake at about 6am Sunday morning... The sky was cloudy and I knew there would be rain, but after watching the weather radar the night before, I was not concerned at the time... So I hit the lake and had two fish within 5 casts on a small t-rigged worm. One hit it while I was reeling it across the water which to me was a good sign of active fish, and the other hit it on the bottom. Both were smaller fish. I thought it was going to be a great day, then...

Now I watched the weather radar the night before, but remind me next time to check it before I go out that AM... The next thing I know there is a heavy rain, wind, you could literally see the storm moving in... Thunder and lightening followed. I went back to the launch and saw about 6 or 7 other boats waiting for the weather to calm... The storm moved in much quicker than it did making it's exit.

Here is a pic off the bow... visibility was not good..

Anyway, after some chatting with some good people for awhile, the weather lightened up a bit and I went back out. There was mild wind, cloudy for most of the day until mid afternoon when the sun started to peek through the clouds. Caught fish on just about everything I threw, worm, jig, crank bait, and the star of the day was a weightless fluke and the ole twitch twitch pause! Water temps were about 79-ish... and fish were pretty active on the bite.. nothing subtle. All my fish were caught shallow, off windy shorelines or points, but I saw other boats out there catching them deep as well. I left the lake around 2pm having caught about 15 or so, with the biggest going around 5 I would guess. I lost a couple nice ones and a few rats, and even caught a decent channel cat. All fish were released to be caught again.

If you were brave enough to get out there, or stupid enough depending on how you view it, it paid off... the fishing was great. If I include the couple good ones I lost, I would estimate a 5 fish limit of about 17 or 18 pounds... not bad. At least not for me anyway on Benbrook. Here is a couple pics..

I know a couple of the folks back at the marina were fellow TFFers, was nice to meet you all.. great people we have on here.

I was the scared one. I launched at mustang and was in the water for 5 minutes. Got soaked loading up. I don't play with lightning.
