Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat and Capt. Zsak

The Gregg Family, Jack and Roni, along with their children, Ashleigh, Austin, and friend, Matt, chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team to do some deep-sea charter boat sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL

Fifteen to twenty minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water by the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started off trolling with two #8 plainers down - one with a pink and blue sea witch in front of a double hooked Bonito strip, the other was a white and blue sea witch in front of a double hooked Mullet strip. For surface baits we went with two Ballyhoos and two Bonito strips.

We trolled the reefs ranging from 80 ft. of water out pass the drop off to 190 ft. There was a sporty east wind blowing which pushed the deep blue water all the way into the second reef. There are three reefs before the drop off in Fort Lauderdale. Our first strike came on one of the plainers - Matt was our angler and reeled in a Kingfish. Thereafter, Ashleigh caught a couple of Bonitos and Austin caught a 3 ft. Remora.

We kept trolling in and out over the reefs. I could see some birds working the area a little deeper, so we headed over to that spot. A couple of Mahi Mahis popped up Austin and Ron were our anglers and they reeled in a couple of Mahi Mahis. Our plainer rod tripped, line started screaming out as the Sailfish jumped out of the water hooked up. Jack was our angler and after a tug of war, he brought the Sailfish to the side of the boat for picture taking. Alex, our mate, removed the hook, and released the Sailfish to swim away.

With a total of two Mahi Mahis, one Kingfish, two Bonitos, one Remora and one Sailfish, it was now time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
