Seems like some cant read. The OP is asking for a specific ratio...OK were keeping it dumbed down to a high low answer. More of the same

I think that all of us can read. Maybe you want to go reread it, he didn't ask for a specific ratio, he asked what ratio, high or low.

High speed for getting them out. Low is beneficial when you are doing the same repeated action over and over like deep diving crank bait. Your rod and line is going to allow you to horse the ones that get heavy out.

I like a fairly fast reel for all worm & jig techniques. 7:1 for me

Youll want a 7.1:1 or faster reel. Winching power or slower gear ratio reels are only beneficial for cranking, in particular the bigger deeper diving cbs, theyll save u some strain.

Speed. Use the rod for power.

This^^

When you're fishing Hydrilla, typically you're not casting that far so the "winching" will be done with the rod and you'll want to pick up slack really fast with the high gear ratio. I opt for an 8.5:1

Thats my money fish
