I'm headed to the Waco area tomorrow for the day and next Saturday with the family. I've passed through the area a few times but never stopped for anything. What are some good must eat places? We are going just north of Waco so something on the far north side, something in Hillsboro. Waxahachie or in between.

No Mexican or BBQ. Any good local spots that are a must try?

Thanks,

On average, your heart beats 100,000 times a day. One day, one of those heartbeats will be your last. Then what?

The answer is found in Jesus Christ who said "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10

I've always been a fan of the old George's Restaurant & Bar in Waco. They've always had pretty solid homestyle grub.

Catfish Plantation here in Waxahachie, a few minutes from I-35.
They have a very very good CFS also-

To bad I just saw this
Buzzard Billy's in Waco is one of my favorites. Eat there every time i go thru which is pretty often. Great location right on the Brazos. Never had a bad meal. Solid Cajun food

Pops Burger stand is great...whatever you do, get your burger with fried jalapenos on top. Super.

Not a big fan of Buzzard Billys...

But, in Waco, maybe try The Backyard Bar Stage and Grill...hit that a few weeks ago...really enjoyed it.

George's in Waco is always a good option also.

Pops burger was ok at the most as far as burgers go. The patty fell apart and seemed oversalted however the cold beer and escape from the I35 corridor restaurants was greatness.
