Quick Fork Report 5-14-2018

MORNING BITE

I've still been chasing the shad spawn on main lake points early in the mornings. Seems to me the bite starts to die off around 9-10 in the morning. Overall the mornings have been really good with numbers and we are catching some larger fish on top water baits which is always a lot of fun. My go to baits have been either a Spook or Underspins.

AFTERNOON BITE

After about 9 or 10 in the morning, I am starting to move out to deeper water. We haven't run across any mega schools of bass yet but have been catching a few off each spot. When I'm fishing out deep, I set the boat up in 25 feet of water and cast to about 20 feet. The baits I am using right now have been a 1 oz Carolina rig with a 5' leader and a #3 rigging hook. I have also started to throw a Storm swimbait (bunker) and some 8XD (chartreuse blue back).

EVENING BITE

The last few evenings have been really good starting anywhere from 6 to 7 pm and the fishing holds to around 8:30. Here we are fishing top water, Underspins, Carolina rigs and the drop shot right before dark. These trips are are an incredible deal and we always have a lot of fun.

I hope this report can help y'all catch a few fish on Lake Fork and for those of you looking to book a guide trip with me in June and July, I still have availability and would love to get you out on the water.

Thanks, Eric Wright #972 757 7947

Great report. Fished the lake today for only my 2nd time, and got skunked of course. Tried everything from shallow to deep. Found a shad spawn this morning in the grass, couldnt get bit. Carolina rigged all over the place and couldnt get bit. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day, can only go up!

Fishing has been really good. What E said is spot on. Ive actually been skipping the shad spawn but the last three times Ive caught a bunch of bass, over half of which have been over 3.5lbs. Numerous 7lbrs, 6s, and 5s.

Sunday 5/6: caught 32
Saturday 5/12: caught 24...done by 2pm
Sunday 5/13: caught 21...done by 2pm

Still catching a few off beds, too.

FIXED

Appreciate it and hope the report can help.

Went out for one of my evening trips last night and they were chewin on the Carolina rig. I'm setting the boat in 26' casting to about 20' - These trips usually run 4 hours and I think we did a little over three last night. We'll see what this tournament does to the fish for this evening.

You bet.

I figure most people here on the TFF know my C-rig is a "watermelon" colored fluke with a 5' leader.
