Dont waste the trip unless you are cat fishing. I went down a couple of weeks ago and the hybrid and white bass fishing was nonexistent. The water was like fishing in chocolate milk. Couldnt see any lure 3 inches in the water. The flooding that occurred earlier this year has really hurt the fishing with a lot of fish lost through the open gates. Hope this saves you the frustration I endured.

Had some friends stay at the state park 3 weekends ago and they said they shouldn't have even brought the boat. They looked all over for sandies and hybrids and nothing. Went looking for crappie and nothing. Fished off the bank for catfish with the kids and only caught a drum. Water really ugly

I was there for 4 days and there was one other boat on the lake jug fishing for catfish. Luckily I brought some jugs also and was able to catch a good amount of cats. Was really disappointed as I love fishing Cooper and know the lake well. The fishing had just gotten good again last year after several miserable years and now the bad times are back. Really unfortunate.

Dont write Cooper of yet. Its always tough until the weather heats up and the winds die down a little. The fish are feeding real shallow on spawning shad now. Caught a 8 pound hybrid in less then a foot of water this morning. I know the flooding is going to hurt it some but maybe with the amount of fish we had last year we will be ok. I plan on getting after the sandies and hybrids some next week so maybe I will have a good report.

The spring flooding did much damage to the park facilities on the lake also. The cabins and screened shelters were all flooded at Doctors creek and the dock there was washed up on the bank when I was there and the park was closed except for fish cleaning. The nice large fishing pier at South Sulphur has also been destroyed and is closed.

The nice large fishing pier at South Sulphur has also been destroyed and is closed. The screen shelters at Doctors Creek are still closed. The camp grounds are open. The playground and swimming area are still closed. The ramp there is open. Parts of the old dock are on dry ground on the north end of the parking lot. The park ranger and GW's moved the old dock.
