I found an interesting place a couple of years ago. Water is 8' to 9' deep in the main lake. There is a pile of submerged logs and stumps about 100 yards offshore, where they built the lake many years ago.

At times Big Crappie will move in there (I suppose they are feeding on Shad). But they will move out around 9:00 - 10.00am in the morning.

Gar will be in there feeding as well. 10lb to 15lb gar, not huge but good size.

If you pull up there and the gar aren't surfacing from time to time, the crappie won't be in there either. I have never caught a crappie there that had any marks from the Gar.
