sent an email to motor mate and was told to follow measuring guidelines to i.d. the unit i need
i have a 2001 yama vmax 225--but it appears there are some brackets needed --anybody have knowledge on this ?
was kinda disappointed on the level of assistance i got from them --this should be a simple answer for them !

I was concerned about brackets as well. When I ordered mine, they sent brackets and instructions to mount them. It was not difficult and mounted quickly. So if you need the brackets, no worries.

No problem with the brackets , just follow instructions for me , my brother tells me its to hard on the transom , but I still tell him I can out fish him to .

As a side note to this post, I recently lost one of the plastic knobs on my motor mate. Would have been wise to have glued them in.

So which model is correct for this yamaha? It appears they do not make them for those models. I have a 2001 200 VMAX and have the same issue.

I have a 2000 Ox66 200hp. I am using Model No. 10-302-SSB. Unless they changed the specs on it, it should work. I purchased it on 10/4/14 from Tacklewarehouse. If you are concerned, ask them if they have changed any of the specs on that model.
It should come with the Motormate and 2 SS brackets that you mount to the bottom motor bolts on the jackplate.
