Ive been fishing a city lake for the last few years and it doesnt have much brush that Ive found on my graph. Saturday when I went, I was 1 of 6 boats fishing for crappie on the dam and actually doing pretty well just slowly going down the bank about 4 deep. I didnt catch any good slabs because I think those fish get a lot of pressure, Bc the ramp is by the dam and you can park on the dam and walk down to fish.

Anyways, I ran up the lake and fished a brush pile that the wildlife dept has marked and pulled out 1 big slab. Ive gotten big slabs off that brush pile before, but only that one Sat.

So with all that being said, where do the crappie live? There are no boat docks on this lake, its just shaped like a V with hay fields surrounding most of the lake. Would yall just go down a bank hoping to find them? The lake isnt very deep Ive noticed either, sometimes only 5-6 ft deep 75 yards from the bank.

Find the creek or drain that feeds it the lake. Follow that to the deepest part of the lake. Fish will be on relating to that creek at almost every point in the year. If you can find steep ledges or brush in the creek, you should find fish.

If the lake is shaped like a V, Id assume there are two creek arms that come together near the dam at the bottom of the V.

Is there any timber in the lake? Rocks?

Jacob is spot on...I would be sitting in the backseat on the boat with him on this lake...and we would be wearing them out....depth changes are a key, based on your description.

Given this situation, two things come to mind. 1) sinks some structure, 2) slow troll lures and Jigs...if there are slabs in this lake, just get a shad (or primary food source) color in various depth type runners...and set the trolling motor on cruise...when you find a good spot, that seems to yield fish...drop some brush for them.
