I took a good fishing buddy out to the lake and we had a very slow start. I need to get out there more often so I can figure out where they are feeding during the day because as of now I still don't know where that spot is.We fished hard and covered a lot of water the first four hours with a hand full of smaller fish. I pretty much covered it all, out deep, shallow, on the flats and in the timber. We threw plastic, cranks, spinners, jerk baits and top water. Any now I'm glad I didn't ever stop trying or searching because two hours before dark I put us on a decent bite that kept us going. As the sun began to settle in the west our bite in 8 to 12 FOW on T/R plastic died. I told my buddy, hey it's time to put these rods down and grab our top water bait rods, the fish have now moved upon the flats to feed. And man was I ever right, we were getting slammed on every cast by three pound bass. We had several double hook ups and it was fast and furious fun no doubt. I didn't want it to end. We kept a good count on our catch until it went crazy fast on our top water bite so this is now just a guess, I am guessing we put 25 to 30 bass in the boat. And 3/4 of those were caught in the last two hours of our trip. I have pics but it doesn't want to download them, but I tried.

You never know. At least you had fun and ended the day well.

I came so close to calling it the day though. I had casted till my arms were ready to fall off. We both felt the same way, we were out of steam. But once we got on a good chew and started putting some meat across the deck, we were re-energized. If I remember correctly, heck we didnt get a bite for about the first hour or maybe even hour and half of fishing. I was almost ready to load the boat up and head on over to Lake Bastrop. Our start was horrible. I will not be showing up in the middle of the day anymore, that I do know.

There is this guide out there, ( Pete Dodge ) he is on some decent fish early in the morning. His numbers are high too. Yesterday they boated 65 before noon. You have to be there at the right time is all.
