Can we post questions in this forum about videos or is this a forum just to post a video? I couldn't find a category where I should post questions about making videos and thought that it fit in this forum the best. If this isn't the right spot, please delete or tell me where.
New Hero5 Black user. GoPro Software says must have Windows 10 and a monster graphics card with beaucoup Gigs of memory on that graphics card for 4k video manipulation.
First GoPro and I have windows 7 with not that great of a video card. What's the best way to manipulate my videos / edit them?
I see where they make some editing software for phones, but thought that it has to be better on a desktop than a phone.
I'm not actually shooting in 4K, I would like to shoot in 2.7 so I have some data to manipulate. I can shoot in 1080 and I think that the video will still look OK.
Can you push a new GoPro guy in the right direction?
I'm hoping that I don't have to spend a grand or more on a new computer to use this thing.
Thanks

I'm a novice, but been doing my stuff with Windows Movie Maker...it's free. You have limited features to work with compared to some of the premium software programs out there, but it does fine for my stuff and it's pretty simple to use...Cutting, simple graphics, music, transitions, etc. Searches on Google and Youtube will walk you through how to use the features.

Thanks for the comments and the push in the right direction for someone just starting to play with videos. I've been on the lightworks site and can't seem to find out where to download the free version. I get that the black version is the free version and the red version is the pro version, but I just see one download option.
Anyone have an actual link to the free download? I don't want the trial of the pro version. Some days, I feel like my parents that can't change the clock on their DVD player.
Thanks again.

The link is here: I believe the Beta version is free. You register for a login and password to use the free software lightworks Be prepared to watch lots of youtube videos on how to use it. Windows movie maker is good for basic videos, but I really like lightworks zoom in and slow motion capabilities. The software that comes with GoPro would freeze regularly and I gave up on it.

Thanks for the tips and suggestions everyone. If you wanted to learn this stuff and you're Not a computer science major, is YouTube your best choice? Maybe visit the GoPro website?
Looking for a good way to shorten the learning curve.
