Channel Catfish are starting to move into the shallows to spawn. Went fishing a couple of hours yesterday

When you say shallows, do you mean on the main lake or can they be caught int e creeks during spawn?
Also what is the best bait or rig for this kind of fishing? Is it possible to get on the action in the catfish spawn for a bank fisherman or do you need a boat and fish along rock shores in main lake?

I've been using Danny King's Punch bait with a sponge and treble hook under a slip cork. I've been catching them on the rocks on the lake itself off of 380 but they can be caught shallow all over. You just need to find them. Sometimes they might be out from the bank a little ways. Just have to experiment and find what depth they're at.

I know it's just a rumor cause I got no pics, but we caught a dozen up to 6 pounds along the rocks at 380. One channel in the rocks as stated above and 11 blues out in the flats a little ways off the rock into the wind. In a couple hours the two of us were pretty busy trying to keep up with 6 poles. This was early Wednesday done by lunch all on plain chicken breast.

Pretty slow for me Tuesday evening.. caught a few small blues on minnows.. couple on cut shad.. evening time

Yea... I’m fishing off the rocks about 3 ft out.. trust me wind is not your friend when you are using bobbers! Especially 3-4 at a Time. Will try it today if I can
