We have a good bait tank on a pontoon boat with an aerator pump. What do you guys add to the water to keep your shad lively?

I'm going to clean the filter tomorrow. I also have the pool salt, my tank is 15 gallons. You think the 4 handfuls of salt is enough?

1 cup of rock salt per 10 gallons of water and I like to add "shad keeper" that you buy at academy.

Do you continue to recirculate the water with fresh lake water or do you just add salt if you are using the same water used to fill the tank.

I have to use tap water. I catch the shad at lake then load and move to the striper lake. Bait is way too hard to find at the striper lake.

It is illegal in Texas to transport live shad from 1 lake to another.

It is illegal in Texas to transport live shad from 1 lake to another. its illegal to transport the water, not the shad, which is why we treat the tap water
Fish a lot, catch a little

It is illegal in Texas to transport live shad from 1 lake to another. its illegal to transport the water, not the shad, which is why we treat the tap water +1, the fine print in that law talks about the water, not the bait itself

I believe it has to be no larger than 20 gallons as well or requires a special license if larger

Live fish, including personally caught live bait, cannot be transported from the water body where the fish were caught in or aboard a vessel in water from the water body where the fish were caught. Personally caught live bait can be used in the water body where it was caught.
I couldn't find the fine print or the live well size restriction. I have a 55 gallon Grayline and would like to know if anyone else can find it.
