I went fishing at Fort Phantom today and finally decided, hey throwing the tackle box at the clearly seen hybrids on sonar just hasn't panned out since early fall so why not stop trying to trick them and just feed them? That is what I did and results were huge and instant! Cut Shad on circle hooks! I know you can catch fish on artificial bait year round but this just has not panned out for me in the cooler water periods.

When you just can't get them to bite anything artificial, I understand using cut bait! Great video and thanks for sharing.

I just wish I would have tried sponer! I have been having terrible luck learning to fish cooler water and kept having terrible trips despite knowing exactly what few areas were holding the hybrids. Know I realize how important shad is at least in certain times of the year.

On our last trip we caught sandbass and hybrids on slabs and shad. We started with shad to get them fired up then switched to slabs

Nice! Even when I was catching hybrids and whites frequently that day I tried to do some slabbing and other artificial bait and just nothing would produce but shad. Always worth experimenting but Im starting to realize the benefit and place of shad in my seasonal approaches. What lake are you fishing?

Lewisville. I use shad whenever I have them but sometimes they are hard to catch.

Great video Clay. Do you work with media or is it just a hobby? And ya know I'm old and all, but I just don't hear any music playing when I catch a nice hybrI'd...LOL

Ive always wanted to fish Lewisville! They apparently have lots of nice hybrids and whites! I probably will give Wes bendarod a call sometime when I have more time on my hands.

About making videos. I actually never considered myself media or computer savvy but a buddy taught me in minutes all I needed to know to make videos on iMovies on my Mac and man that program makes it too easy!! Anybody could do it.

Id love to hear yalls opnions on what you like and dont like about the recent videos/editing as I plan to do several in the future as I learn and have more things to share. I personally dont like long videos of people bs-ing and just reeling in fish but I love educational videos with maybe some catching shots to spice it up some....this last video of feed them dont trick them is a prime example of what I intend to put out if the future unless peoples feedback dictates a different path.

I like the music, just joking about it. I caught a12.4 lb yesterday and wouldn't have heard anything while the fight was on, it was intense for a while
