The Millwood tournament was rescheduled from March to April. Back in March the lake was 15 ft above normal 11 days before the tournament. No ramps were open at that time. The lake dropped 15 ft in the next 10 days so you can imagine how bad the fishing would have been. The lake was back to normal for the tournament today. There were 10 teams in DIV I and 13 in DIV II. Didn't fish this one so no fishing report. There were some big fish brought to the scales and some impressive stringers. Very close finish in DIV I with Tommy Ezell and Richie James besting Gary Sims and Pat Martin by .03 lb. Congrats to all that fished this one. DIV II DIV I

It was the most pain staking journey ever. Took us 11 hours to get to Millwood on Friday after getting boat traile axle fixed on the side of highway but we had fun. Congrats to all and see you on Palestine!

Something doesn't add up on that D2 board: Looks like 1st Place was 10.93, but says their big fish was 1.47 I'm not great with math, but I know that 7 fish at 10.93 is over a 1.5lb "average". Was their big fish actually 2.47, or what? Just curious...

Maybe theyre leaving out a couple of my fish. Not sure.

Anglers who don't have a big fish, just grab a long skinny fish to weigh. They may have chosen a spawned out female over a male of the same size. The males were much thicker and heavier.

They had no chance at big fish, so they (somebody??) just grabbed one & weighed it. Needless to say, it wasn't their biggest.....

How does a fellow get started fishing these tournaments? You can get info at this site http://www.crappieanglersoftexas.comThe schedule is posted and rules. Don't need any expensive boat or equipment. You can enter on line. Coming to one of the monthly CAT meetings might be a good place to start. The meeting schedule is also posted on the web site. Talk to some of the guys who fish tournaments and I'm sure you'll get some helpful advice. The tournaments are a good learning experience and the camaraderie is great. If you've got particular questions, send me a PM and we'll talk.

This is my 1st year Fishing with CAT and have learned so much in the first 3 tourneys. If you want to be a better crappie angler this is a great way to meet a lot of people who share the same passion..
