Any of you guys run aluminum boats? If so what kind?
I really want an aluminum boat that I can dip in the salt and not be worried.

My Scooter is tin. I wouldn't run anything else, but everyone has different priorities.

I dont do rough water. I dont want to do rough water. I run shallow, which is your choice. You cant do both.

Funny. Youd be dragging that yak through thigh deep poot mud to get where were fishing.

My Scooter is tin. I wouldn't run anything else, but everyone has different priorities. How balanced is your boat when crossing normal bay depths ... in other words, how is the ride when you aren't in 4 inches of water? Will it hold 3 people or is 2 the max? You ever stuck it on a sandbar?
The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be. --John Gierach

Anytime youd like to verify what a properly setup jet can or not run in Id be more than happy to show you. Way less than it takes to float a yak in.
Everything on a boat is some manner of compromise. Everything that makes a hull ride smooth Will also make it run deeper, Jets dont like rough water much either, so except for crossing the intercoastal and a hundred yards out of shoalwater bay I dont get in any. Does it mean I have to take a longer route on some days? Yep but thats what Im willing to compromise.
That said theres aluminum builders that make some fine tunnel hulls that will take bigger water. Boatright, scandy-white and empire all build hulls thatll way outlive any fiberglass hull. Its all out there, someone has what you want.

A properly set up jet can run shallower on plane that a Kayak.

No reason to float in 2 of water. Plenty of reasons to run through it.

Sometimes you just gotta look cool. Pole gets unsnapped about twice a year.
