The family and I are heading to Toledo Bend this weekend and I was curious if anyone had any tips they're willing to offer as I have never fished this lake before. We will be staying right off of Hwy 87 and Six Mile.

Are the fish still up shallow on beds, or should I try fishing some deeper cover? I love fishing shallow cover myself. Also if anyone has any crappie spots in the area that would be a plus smile

You don't really need to leave Six Mile but those banks have been hit hard for the last couple of months. You can catch them shallow but you will have plenty of company. Good coves on the North side of Six Mile. You will find some decent grass as well. Shallow - wacky senkos and trick worms. Underspin/swimbait, spinnerbaits. My recommendation would be to hit the major points in 10-20 foot with TX rig or Carolina Rig. Watermelon is always good there as is Green Pumpkin. If water is muddy (it was pretty stained 2 weeks ago), you might opt for darker color - junebug, black/blue.

Some of the most educated bass on that lake live in 6 mile and Housen. The deep bite should be good, and that is where I would spend my time looking. If you do find a wad offshore, don't be surprised when you have boats roll right by you marking waypoints haha. Maybe it won't be that bad for you, but Toledo has been crazy the last few years.

Hopefully the weather stays good, have fun

....Fish 6 Mile & Housen points. That's all you need to do.
start shallow and work out to 18ft of water on both sides of the point
move to the next point and do the same thing.
You will catch fish

Fish slow around haygrass and points. Senkos and tx rig. South side and north side of six mile have tons of water

I will be on Toledo for the 2nd time ever this weekend around Lowes Creek for a mens fishing trip with my grandfathers church. Hoping to find a few myself, most of the time I'm on the west side of HWY 87 lol

Should I be cranking deep on point up to the shallower water, or would it be best to use a T-rig or C-rig and just drag up the points?

What is the best way to fish flats? I'll mainly focus on Six Mile, but will probably fish Housen Flats and not sure if i should just crank points or look for submerged structure?

Fish the edges, ditches, points, brush piles, or grass, or timber and stumps.

There are lots of fish out in 15-25 and some shallow. Pre spawners down south and post spawners showing up deep daily.

We fished Thursday evening and caught a fish on the 1st cast and caught a few the rest of the evening. Woke up to 43 degrees and 15mph winds Friday morning, but caught fish all day long. Didn't keep count or catch anything over 4lbs but we "hammered" them all day fishing bushes on soft plastics.
