New to the sport , what's the best hybrid striped pole , when fishing with live bait . I'm putting abu 6500 line counter reels on them . My lake ( Belton ) has a lot of 5 lb to 10 lbs hybrids . Thanks

Medium heavy ugly stick from academy. Good and cheap. $30 I believe.

I have some white MH Ugly sticks made for bait fishing. Prefer using them for shad because they have a softer tip, and have more give when the fish is taking the bait.

Will post the model number later today.

Med. Action - 7'6"

I also like the ugly sticks. But I like a little lighter action.
Sometimes / some seasons, I feel that the fish are a little pickier. A rod that allows the fish to take the bait a little further before resistance is applied, I feel can help with hook-ups. A more flexible rod can help when using circle hooks, at times - in my opinion.

My #2 choice (that I can't find down here) is the 7'6" Academy - Tournament Choice rod. About $10. All one piece rod. I've caught many fish using those rods and never had a problem with them. Until I hooked into a tree or stump.

I don't live bait fish much but these seem pretty good. Lews doesn't disappoint too often.

Strictly speaking, a fishing 'pole' is like a cane pole, where you just tie the line to the end of it.

A fishing 'rod' is designed to mount a reel or similar device to hold line.

But lots of folks use the terms interchangeably.
