Today, we dropped the last of the three Lake Fork ShareLunkers back into Lake Fork via the Phoenix express. Miss Nasty (#573) was the final of this year's Fork SAL entries to be returned to Lake Fork. Kyle, the SAL Program Manager, delivered SAL #571 and SAL #572 back to Fork yesterday.

Miss Nasty was as strong as the day I caught her and swam away with same ferocity that she battled me with. She delivered many, many bass babies the week of the April full moon and made a full recovery from spawning thanks to the feasts and care provided while in the program. The new program, which accepts both Florida strain and Fx crosses from January 1-March 31, appears to be having a very successful year. SAL #572 produced over 28,000 eggs according to the Toyota Sharelunker Program's Facebook Page, which is above average for a fish of that size.

This has been a really fun ride and it's not over yet. We'll be at the Toyota Bassmaster Texas Fest in May to wrap it up. Since this is perhaps the fish of a lifetime, I asked Jeff A. with the HatCamBass Youtube channel to help me video some of the experiences throughout the process. I really wanted something to have that I could be able to look back on and hopefully show the grandkids one day. After the banquet/ceremony, we'll compile the full video to share the experience with you.

Great News Alex!

Thank you for loaning your fish to TPWD so her babies can help our fisheries for years to come. We all benefit from the Share Lunker program now whether we know it or not. In 1975 I won a tournament on Ray Hubbard with a 7 lb 7 oz bass. That fish made the front page of the Dallas Morning News Sports page.

Today a 7 pounder hardly gets a second glance due to the efforts of TPWD.

When Mark Stevenson's State Record 17.67 kicked off the SAL program in Nov 1986 it gave Texas a great shot in the arm that many lakes most likely would have never received without it. Were it not for the addition of the Florida genes into many of the Texas lakes, a 7 pounder would still be a BIG Fish!

Once again, Congrats to Alex Finch! Catching a 13+ pound bass from public waters is a Lifetime Achievement!! thumb

Thanks Ken! We are sometimes judged in hindsight for our decisions, and I'm glad the outcome was perfect here. I wouldn't change my decision if I caught another under the same circumstances.

After a little reflection, I realized that my son will be in high school when my SAL's babies reach SAL potential. Hope he and many others are able to enjoy the benefits of this choice.

I may have the honor one day to catch one of Miss Nasty's off spring and it would be awesome if somehow it was a SAL and I caught it on one of your thumpers. Thank you for your donation.
