What is your favorite rod/reel set up for bank fishing .I like a 6'6" medium with a fast tip, This set up has served me well using various types of lures.

7'5 MH fast mostly. It's on the Med side of MH, throw everything from cranks to chatterbaits, and soft plastics.

7' MH fast 6'6" M extra fast Baitcaster or spinning, doesn't matter much, both have their pros and cons. Braid to co-poly or flouro leader.

The reel is going to be 100% a Shimano. Rods are going to vary from fifty to one hundred and fifty dollars.
For white bass and crappie I like to use ultra light spinning reel with five foot pole. For black bass I use six foot rods in medium/heavy for everything.

I always go with Ugly Stick rods. I'm partial to Daiwa reels for spinning, and Ambassadeur (Never Chinese made) for casting. However, I just bought a Pfluger spinning reel that seems to be a top notch.

Sorry I didn't answer your question right the first time. Bank fishing set up was the question. Since I only bank fish during the white bass spawn, this is what I use. Of course a Shimano ultra- light spinning reel on a five foot rod with medium action. The rod is rated for 4 to 8 lb. test line. I could talk about fishing all day long, but I'll leave it at this. I love this sport...... It's awesome.... Shimano rods are pretty darn sweet too.

For LMB lures I like my 7ft MH IMX G.loomis with shimano stradic ci4+ spinning reel For smaller fish I have a Berkley lightning 7ft Medium with pflueger president spinning 6920 For cats I go with 8ft MH ugly stick & abu 6500 baitcaster.
So it would depend on the species but if I could only choose one rod/reel in my whole arsenal, it would be the 7ft MH g.loomis imx paired with my shimano 8000 oc spinning. Reason being is I could switch between lures & catfishing. It has a rear drag for line alarm if I need it for bait fishing.

Well, hmmm. I spend quite a bit of time on the bank, crappie fishing. Most of my fishing is done with a 10 medium heavy Bonehead (broomstick), or an 11 G-Rod (rear seat version) spooled with braid. If I need to cast to the fish, I tend to use an 8 light action Bonehead, spooled with 6 lb line. All reels are Shimanos, although recently, I have bought a couple of inexpensive Pflueger Trions (at Walmart), and so far, am pleased at the quality/performance they offer versus the price, and versus the Shimanos. It seems that Shimano has started cheapening up the components (charging more for less) in their reels in the last couple of years, so I have been looking at suitable replacements.

What type of bank fishing are you referring to: creek? river? lake? dam? inshore? What kind fish are you targeting to: crappie? white bass? large mouth? hybrid? striper? cat? You may need more than one rod and reel.

You may need more than one rod and reel. This is what I would need to know in order to give you any sort of a setup that I use. I have specific rods and reels for different types of fishing and even if it is Bass fishing... I have different setups for the different types of fishing. I'd need more information before I could provide you an answer without giving you an itemized list of each one of my setups and what it's used for.

Gentlemen thanks for the feedback ... I fish all banks I do not discriminate , If my kid has a baseball tournament and there is water close by I will go drown a worm between games. If I am at home and close to the lake I will bank fish from the lake shore ,If I want to fish a creek that has produced huge bass in the past then I will hit that as well. If I am at my in-laws then I will fish the 3 ponds they have from the bank . The favorite rod / reel question was more about what you like to throw as your favorite rod /reel , but I can see where you would get hung up on situational fishing and try to help me out by asking specifics , sorry my question was very generic = ).
