Not sure what's going on now, we smoked the stripers three weeks ago. Caught about 40 a lot of five and six pounders the biggest one was over 14 several in the 10 pound range. Mid lake dead sticking and casting large swim baits.

No. PK is very tough fishing right now. I crappie fished all day yesterday. I did not see a single school of what I would call sand bass or striper. I saw a guide drop two customers at the cliffs Courtesy dock and they said they only caught two stripers. That is pretty sad for a guided trip and the guide was apologizing. I noticed some guide boats wandering around scouting. Those guides are not out wasting gas unless they need to find the fish.
The weather has been weird. Neely Slough should be chock full of sand bass but it's almost empty of fish. A few carp, spawning LM Bass and an occasional crappie. Not seeing any shad to speak of. This is in stark contrast to fishing a couple weeks ago before the cold fronts. At that time we were smacking stripers, Blue cats and sand bass in exactly the same spot on shiner minnows.
The water down lake is extremely clear. You can easily sight fish spawning LM bass if you want, as they are on beds that used to be in 5 feet but are now in about 3 as the lake is down a couple feet.
I bet it will be May before we see a sand bass spawn. I see we have another cold front on the way.

I took a friends grandson out fishing today. Wind was way down, fishing had been horrible down lake so I launched at sandy beach and went over to the deep docks at Rocky Hollow. We ran into some decent sand bass schools and stripers out in the cove and caught some nice LM bass by the fish attractors there in the cove. Not sure how long it will last but there is Definitely more fish mid lake. We did not limit out but I have a fish filleting job in the morning.
Good luck to you.

Let me know if you need some help Randy. I'll trade some labor for a day of picking your brain on a lake you have fished for decades.

Just recently got a lake house across from Sand Island. Would love to figure out this massive lake. Been mainly focusing on LMB, but the fronts have made it difficult last couple weekends.(Only one 4 pounder, rest were dinks) If any of you veteran Pk fisherman would like to share some tips and tricks PM please and i'll do my best to return the favor some how! I know some people

Andrew: Get some white Jigs from Jiggin Jerry and rig one about 4-5 feet below a bobber. Cast this along the bank and anyplace you see a bass nest. You'll catch plenty of LM bass right now. If you want stripers you will need live bait IMO. Shiners if you can't get shad. http://www.jigginjerry.com/Good luck.
