Just messing around on TPWD, and found the lake way out in West Texas. Was just wondering if any if y'all have ever been there/fished there? I noticed there's no boat ramps on the lake. Wonder why....? Just curious about it! https://tpwd.texas.gov/fishboat/fish/recreational/lakes/red_bluff/

It is the original home of golden algae in Texas. I think it has some decent cat fishing when it has water.

I’ve recently heard of decent catches of white bass over there.

It's a good lake, my hometown is just 30 min. From there. There's some good size strippers and a decent amount of large mouth. But try to avoid that area the oil field traffic is very bad. It's on hwy 285 near orla texas. That hwy is a death trap.

Interesting. I've never heard anyone ever talk about it. I guess people are just backing in off the bank? It's pretty decent size lake for no ramp

I fished it last year while working in Pecos. Road is rough and dusty so I kept my boat covered. If launching a boat you have to back in deep or look for a drop off. Caught Bass Both LM and Whites all over lake Rocks, ledges, brush. Senkos, blades, dropshot.
