I see everyone doing this and I have done it in the past as well. I guess I don't really see the benefit. I did not notice any difference in the numbers of bites I got either way. Typically when I am fishing braid like most people, it is because I'm fishing around vegetation. All of the different types of vegetation I'm around are normally green just like my braid. What would the benefit be to dye my braid black? Wouldn't that just make my line contrast against that cover and stick out like a sore thumb?

I don't know.
Why do some guys put red hooks on crankbaits?
Or draw a black dot on the side?
Or dip the claws on a craw?

I guess it matters to them.

this is exactly the reason WHY any fisherman does anything to their lures or line or use a certain rod or reel.
it really makes no difference today or tomorrow in how or why you catch fish other than giving yourself more confidence in what you are doing.

when the fishing is tuff,,, I go to a Blackmore 1/4oz Roadrunner with a white grub and a red dot on the side AND I catch fish. Noone else will do that so why do I do it ? CONFIDENCE ........ Black Sharpie to any line ... why? CONFIDENCE

Billy, what brand camo braid do you use? I used to use Spiderwire camo braid, but don’t see it much now.

Been around a LONG time... has nothing to do with fish seeing it. Almost every grass fisherman has talked about it at some point. Hackney did just the other day on his lousiana show.

Most ppl do it so YOU can see the line. Black the line to depth of the water so you can tell if it stops early or keeps going past the water depth

I remember reading years ago in a book by Doug Hannon that he did this in one inch increments about 6' or so above the hook/lure so the fish couldn't see the line. It actually breaks up the the lines visibility. Mr Hannon was a well respected authority on big bass.
