Amistad Expeditions to get on the Devils. This will be my fist time but the buddies I'm going with in May have used them and have nothing but great things to say about them. Where in West Texas? We're out of Odessa/Midland.

Hey Butch. I've done the Kiamichi and Lower Mt. Fork a few times. Not the upper fork. The upper fork is supposed to be great smallmouth fishing. The lower fork has trout in the first few miles. Tons of bass. Nice clean cold water. Plenty of outfitters nearby The kiamichi above Antlers, Hill country, lots of pines. Clean water, bass, crappie, sandies. Probably cats too, didn't target those. LOTS of wildlife.K-River Kampground is the only outfitter I know of but they're inexpensive and friendly. Nice campround.

The S Llano from the CR150 access to the S Llano River State Park and then on to the City Park is a beautiful trp and the fishing is excellent (if you like to catch the Texas State Fish). INFO ON TPWD ACCESS

Buffalo, Crooked Creek, Kings River, Ouachita, Caddo (if it is running high enough --- pretty fine line between too little and too much and it usually swings rapidly between the two), S. Llano, Spring River (another arkie but need to plan your camping), I think the Upper Illinois is possible but I have not done it.
Crooked is easy -- look for 11 to 12.5 at Kelly Slab gauge (drag a bit at below that and below 10 is PITA). Call Dan Pratt and songdogkayakrentals. He'll move your truck twice for you (Crooked follows 412) and you can car camp the first night and then have it waiting at take out. Kings is a little more difficult to plan - for one thing the gauge is all the way up at 412 and it is hard to know exactly when the watershed gets rain because over about a 10 mile stretch a drop can either go to the Buffalo, the Kings, War Eagle, or the White.

Love me some Crooked Creek!

I have organized an overnight on Red River for about 25 employees. Putting in at Denison dam and exit Bakers Crossing Bridge. Only about 12 miles but plenty for non-kayakers to have fun. There are a few other exits along the river depending on how long you want to stay.
