Out here at the state park and have been up Cedar Creek and Caddo Bay but havent marked anything that looked like sandies or crappie up in the side creeks anywhere. Gonna try some night fishing on dock lights tonight hoping to catch some but would really like to put my kiddos on some fish. Are they only hitting live bait right now? How far back up the main creek do I have to go? I couldnt go very far up Cedar today with the wind blowing right straight down at 15+ this morning....

That's a good question. I've caught a few but the spawn is not on down lake where I'm at. PK has fished strange this year. Last year the sandies got crazy about mid April. Might be just a little early.
PK is super fun to fish right now. It's like fishing a creek in Arkansas the water is so clear. The water is gorgeous and very clear.

I am not at the lake these days but they could be down around Graham in the Brazos. If thats the case then your not going get to them by boat. Knee replacement is going well.

I didnt fish most of the lake yesterday but a big part of it in spots. 1 sandbass that had eggs south of broadway. I bet she decided to not go up river this year. Last week we caught several up north. With the rain last week Im thinking they hooked it up river to do the deed while they have some runoff to do it in. Water visibility was 18 ft south of broadway. The lady client said she watched that sandbass come up and grab her jig close to the boat.

Man thats great visibility because up Cedar it wasnt that good. Did fairly well at night but couldnt find them in the day. On the other hand I was able to find a few LMB in beds, not sure if this is late for them or not. Overall not a bad trip. Took home a good stripe and 8 big sandies.

Sorry to hear you are ailing Randy. I pray you get better and that knee replacement goes well.
Never thought those sand bass would go up the brazos.

By up north I meant up a creek or river that has inflow. Might be bluff creek or neelys slough or even the brazos depending on what parts of the lake they are hanging at the time.

We fished on saturday from 11 AM to 3:30 . Areas covered include but not limited to ,Cedar from the mouth back to last buoy, SP, all creeks leading into same, in front of TWA sign road beds and out to Broadway,Tabletop, Bee Creek and along west wall to Rattlesnake point, the three creek beds that are across from Bug Beach heading East, Hogs Bend ,Hogs Head, Johnson Bend, Bluff creek , both sides and back to feeder creek looking for shad, camp Grady, the creek running west through camp Grady and Scuba Point. That is a bleak scenario, didn't mark any fish, a little bait @ 25 feet down close to Bone Bend. Sonar/HDS 9 gen 3 and hds7 gen 2 used soley for chart. criss cross pattern used in order to scan thoroughly . May have missed some fish somewhere ! They must be spawning north toward Graham.

The only folks I saw catching striper were downriggers catching mostly smaller stripers. We did manage to boat 12 striper but all were 16 to 20 on jigs. I dont know whether to go south or way north. Im thinking way way north in skinny water. I may need a skiff for that.

I covered dang near the same water from 7 am-11 with the same results. I did find a good wad of some kind of fish that wouldnt bite any slab, swimbait, buck tail, crankbait, or Mepps I had in the boat. I dropped a few live Shad down and not even a peck. I worked on them for an hour trying to make them bite. Probably Gar or something, hell I dont know.
