Anyone know what kind of Bass I caught today? Resembled a Largemouth but it literally did not have the dark green lateral line down the side.

Muddy water or very deep bass that just moved shallow.

Bass are like chameleons and change their pigment depending on their environment (can do so within hours)

Sunny clearish water, hiding under lily pads and thick vegetation--Black back, greens and golds, prominent lateral line

Muddy water or living out very deep--almost all silver with maybe a hint of green on the back, invisible lateral line.

The lateral line is part of the bass's nervous system - it's always there. It's an array of sensing nerves arranged in a line on each side of the fish. There's no such thing as a bass without one. Whether or not the skin surface is pigmented so that you can SEE where it's located is another story.....The lack of that visible dashed line is a coloration-only thing - the lateral line is still there.
