I can honestly say that I have never managed this one. Any good related stories.... https://i.imgur.com/sSR5Rzn.mp4I can't embed a video unless its google myspace yahoo or youtube, which my link was neither. I would have used it if I could.

Nope, never that lucky. Caught them in midair with the net before. I was throwing a ten inch worm on a private lake one time and got it over a willow limb, the line was wrapped about 8 inches above the water line and a big one came out of the water and pulled it free.

several years ago,my partner and I were fishing a tourney on Seminole...first thing in the morning,we go way up spring creek and start pitching jigs up under cypress trees.....first or second tree, partner says I'm hung and is pulling hard as he could trying to break his line...I'm afraid that jig is gonna come loose and hurt one of us so I tell to hold on and I'll back you up to where you can reach it with your rod tip.....we get almost back there and I hear this splashing and partner yells I got a fish...and he did...somehow with only about 3 ft of line out and him ducked up under a cypress tree,he manages to swing a 7 1/2 lb bass into the boat... only thing we could figure is that the nose of the jig was snubbed up between two of the cypress knees with the hook sticking out and that bass grabbed it off there and freed the jig for him just before he could reach it with his rod tip... I thought at the time how lucky we were to get that fish in the boat and it just might be our day to win...and we did...

If you haven't seen it, or experienced it, I'm sure it is hard to believe....but being hung up in my experience has been an opportunity. A few times with crankbaits and a couple times with jigs/trigs, as soon as they were popped free they were inhaled. Once was a 10+ in a BC tourney on Falcon. It has happened enough that I prepare myself, partner, or HS kids for a bite if it happens to come free. Something about it creating all that commotion under water while banjoing I guess. To the OP, that is one of the coolest fishing videos I've seen.
