Anyone still run one of these oldies? I just scored a super clean 2000 crew cab 4x4 Lariat with 86K miles...Pretty excited about it. Gonna drive it like a truck, not a drag car...Heard good things about them.....seems to be a beast....Anyone still towing?

With mileage that low, it’s like new. Mine has over 300,000 miles, and still going strong.

Still the best diesel out there. 1999 F450 with 260,000 miles with no trouble. Tow 18,000 lbs quite a bit.

I still think i'd rather have a 5.9 cummins, but wouldn't turn down a low mileage good condition 7.3. Boss has one with 340,000 miles on it... but he has had some sizable expenses to keep it on the road. Too many oil leaks to count, injector cups all needed replacing and had to have the heads rebuilt.

Truck has never worked a day in its life as in towing/hauling, but he does drive it pretty hard.

5.9 Cummins is the other good one, I just never had one pull as good as the 7.3 WITHOUT lots of upgrades.

Maybe, but with those miles that's not all bad, I see the same trucks with more miles and they want more then what you paid.

With regular oil changes with a good diesel rated oil, fuel and oil filter changes and good, hot batteries that truck will keep going for a very long time.

Take if from me- I'm a big Chevy person, and own a Duramax. But I will tell you, that 7.3 is the best diesel ever put into a pickup truck along with the old 12 valve Cummins! 86k miles????? Haha! That truck hasn't even been broken in yet roflmao That's an easy million mile truck! They may be pigs and not very fast, but it'll tow anything you hook behind it with ease. Friend of mine has 130k on his and it's been trouble free.

Run good quality oil in it (Shell Rotella, Chevron Delo, Mobil Delvac,) get diesel from good gas stations, keep the batteries good, and you'll never have a problem with it. If I was a Ford guy and wanted a diesel I'd get the 7.3 before any other.

Thanks guys. I actually bought it with 83K on the odometer. I just replaced the batteries with Oreilly's glass packs. I got a good deal on them. $199 retail each....Yeah, I'm OCD on maintenance, so I'll keep her going good. Putting some new brakes on it tomorrow.

My cousin owns a string of Trucks Only dealerships. He and his sales guys refer to 7.3 Fords as "Gold Bricks". Buys everyone that comes across the auction block.

That mileage is Crazy low , I bought mine in 99 , 7.3 , Lariat , Crew Cab , 4x4 , it has 196 k , no engine mods , orginal trans , no major repairs , just wear items . Bought a 2017 Duramax , Denali , 4x4 , GMC , can't compare the two of course . Guess which one my wife likes to ride in ?
