Ok, how in the hell do I do this? The tax office is asking from my original title from the bank, which they wont release since they still have ownership (I still owe on the boat). THe bank says they wont release the title since it is still their boat. The tax office says you cant register it without it. I brought them a copy of the title, which the bank sent, and they wont accept it since its not the original! What the hell.... How have you all done this?? I am getting very frustrated with this bs.

The bank should provide you a title with them listed as a lien holder, I think.

Certified copy of the title? Or when in doubt, call the TPWD dept.

They did in a copy, which they refused to accept.

Some registration departments are really hard to get anything done because they think they are all knowing.

TPWD, is where to get the boat and motor registered, the tax office is where you get tags for the trailer. Did you buy from a dealer or an individual?

Moved into the state with it. Trailer was easy. I went to the office the TPWD told me to go to get this done...

Well, to her credit she didnt just flat out say no. She called a supervisor who also confirmed that i had to have an original to register it in the state.

Which office did you go to?
Curious, because that sounds like a clerk being a jerk. You should be able to take the copy of title showing bank as lien holder & be done in 5 minutes.

The office in Gainesville. Honestly i thought the same thing, but she even confirmed with her supervisor it had to be original. I am at a loss.

Your bank should have provided you with a title. The title should show them as a lien holder on the boat. That is not a copy it is a title. When the loan is paid off the bank will supply you with another title showing no lien.
