I have a Humminbird 899CI HD SI that has been working great until a few days ago. The depth does not read correctly and flashes. I did connect it to the connections of my 859CI HD DI and it worked correctly. I also checked to see if the transducer may have been knocked out of place but it was good as well. Anyone know why it may be doing this and what else to check? Thanks.

Electronics = PFM. Pure censored Magic. Check transducer connector at head unit for recessed pins.

Yup, did that and cleaned them all as well.

Since you said it worked correctly on another transducer, I think your issue may be with your transducer. Occasionally the connection entering the transducer will crack or leak water in frying the unit.

Replacing it will most likely resolve the issue.

After restoring defaults and it still flashing, plug the 899 unit up to the 859 di transducer. You should get a 2d depth reading. If its still flashing while plugged to the di transducer then next step would be customer service

I did plug it into the 859 and it worked.

I was hoping to not replace it but I think you're right.

If you didn't upgrade to the hdsi transducer when you purchased the unit I would recommend it now if its in your budget

Yes.

Do you have a y cable for a shoot thru hull transducer? When depth flashes what depth does it read. ?

I do not have a through hull trans. The depth changes. If I'm in 9 ft, it will read around 9 is but flashes. If I move into deeper water, it stays the same depth unless I continue to stay in the new deeper water. Then it will change to something close but always flashing. Unsure of the "Y" cable.

I went out and bought the new HD transducer. I installed it but haven't taken it to the water yet. We shall see.
