Yesterday on Lake Maumelle was epic.
Cloudy overcast and COOL. Wind was variable around 5-15mph and changed directions often.
This is a 10,000 acre city water supply lake. The water was slightly stained and the lake was full to normal pool. The set up was shallow grass just under the surface in most places.
The baits were shad color willowleaf spinnerbait and Blueback orange belly shallow diving rattling Rogue.
We caught 19 from about 8-10 am Things slowed and we had to grind it out. By 3:00pm we had 35 bass with 2 over 5 and 2 more 3 1/2 lbers. However all but a couple of fish were 2 lbs or over. Rain ran us off the water around 3:00.
Good day for us and a lot of fun. Shallow fish and seeing the bite most times made the trip special.
