I have two batterys wired 12 volt (no jumpers) to front plug 4 prong. The trolling motor on boat is a 12/24. Im installing a 24v and still wanna use the 4 prong plug. Is that fine? Do I need to do anything other than put 4 prong plug on new motor and plug it in? Thanks in advance for the help guys.

The trolling motor will use red w/ a 50amp fuse and black from the batteries only. Remove the other 2 cables from the batteries and put a jumper between aux 1 + and aux 2 -

So take one pos and one neg out of female end of plug and run jumper at batterys. Is that correct?

I recently did the same thing. Old motoguide12/24 to a 24v 80# thrust. I tried using only 2 of the wires. It worked but wires got pretty warm and would blow 40a fuse. Decided that was just too much current for that gauge wire.

Rewired it all. I bought some 8ga Ancor brand wire and 50a circuit breaker, found best prices on eBay. I didnt use the 4 prong up front but replaced with this

Probably invested under $100 total and put 2 hours or so into install. But it looks good, works great and I know its fine right. Pm if you want more info

I changed from an old 12/24 trolling motor and the cables weren't a heavy enough gauged wire so I just ran 2 new wires. If your old motor is that old, make sure that they have a breaker on it.

Wonder if I can just use both positives wires I have now ran to same terminal at plug, so they can split the load. Just brainstorming here. Was trying to use 4 prong plug with new motor.
