Not sure if I need one: have enough baitrunners for my needs.
But it is very interesting how practical are quick drags system vs baitrunner?

I know it's a month late, but I just recently got a baitrunner, so here goes!

After using both, I can tell you that I like the baitrunner much, much more than the quick drag, but really it all boils down to personal preference. You can use both in the same manner. A lot of people like the quick drag because they can adjust the drag much quicker during the fight, and play the fish in a more efficient manner. With baitrunners, you can do the same, but at a slightly slower pace. The real advantage of the baitrunner IMO is that you can have the "perfect" drag set all the time, and switch to that as soon as you get a bite. I'd try both out and decide for yourself which you like better.

Precision in drags settings is absolutely crucial for me because I use light tackle, and my normal leader is 6 lb, sometimes in the winter it's even 4lb. It is impossible to set drags "on a run" when fish is already on a hook.
It makes me come to conclusion that QD is for orthodox method only.

You know what? We already have almost identical dilemma in our world of fishing tackle.
It is star drags vs lever drags.
When you need precise drags, it always star drags, but when you need to adjust during the fight, it is lever drags reel. Right?

Personally i dont see a need for a quick drag system . I use standard reels ( diawa 4500 Sport emblems ) i tighten as i reel in the fish.if its a snaggy area i cup the spool with my hand but just ehough pressure to keep the fish away from obstacles them continue tightening as i play the fish.it feels completely natural after a few fish. On my other set of rods a have baitrunners but like the standard ones more. Just one more opinion
