Wife has a ton of wine corks. I've been making bass poppers with them, but they're like 8 wt bulky. Wanted to make some panfish poppers. Found a broken golf shaft (you can usually find an old club for $1), cut out a section with a tubing cutter just small enough to fit my drill. Drilling them out sideways....just takes light pressure. Once you leave a couple in, you can pull the last one out of the "bit" or sometimes it drills through and you can push them out the cork. Any help with what to do next would be appreciated. Thanks. https://imgur.com/a/kJlyz

Those look solid. Next you can cut a thin slit in the bottom of the cork, build up a thread base on the hook so it's a tight fit, glue everything in place, and say a few prayers. Then add a small feather or marabou tail and some hackle and you're done.

Thanks...I was wondering if the hook is sent through the cork from the back, but this sounds better...the cork make not make it if pushed through.

Maybe drill a small hole to push a long shank hook with epoxy thru, clean the eye.

I've found cutting the groove is easier now that I started using a metal cutting jig saw blade in my tying vice. I also like Mustad 37160 sz 12 hooks. They have a huge gape. I'm thinking about getting away from using superglue....not forgiving...may start using JB Weld after I've cut the grooves on the bodies and tied in tail feathers/legs to the hooks a few at a time. https://imgur.com/a/5Lbz4
