Which is MORE Important when catching fish in your opinion? The Rod or the Reel?

Don't say both, trying to win a bet.

Rod or reel?

Blindshot,

Fishing is not an escape from life, but often a deeper immersion into it.

ROD!!!

Fishing is not a matter of life or death,
it's much more important than that!

You don’t feel the fish with the reel. You don’t set the hook with a reel. You don’t fight the fish with a reel.

The reel is just a line storage device.

Reel

If rod breaks the reel becomes the most important. If the reel breaks then hand over hand becomes a problem.

Go throw a frog on a light action rod and you will quickly determine that the rod is most important. Throw a square bill on an Xtra Heavy Rod and, again, you will figure out the rod is most important.

Rod for sure. Never did understand why so many people will pair a <$100 rod with a >$200 reel.
