Had mine for 18 months and love it! Look at the new Xi3. 70 lbs verses Xi5 at 80. No foot pedal. And the biggie, lower priced.

I bought mine from David at Shut-Up-And-Fish more than a year ago. Went with MG because it seemed the best fit with my Lowrance electronics.

- It made my overall experience on the water WAY more productive.
- ANCHOR mode is amazing, in any winds.
- GO TO WAYPOINT or GO TO CURSOR saves a ton of time.
- Remote operation is so good to have, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it.
- Like many (most) others, I never use the foot pedal because the remote works so well.

Hope this helps.

Bought both of mine used. No problems, ever. I did change to the 3 blade prop though. Much smoother operation on high speed with no lack of speed. I did that on both.

I love my Xi5. On my 2nd one because I sold the first one when I sold my old boat.

Don't forget to take a look at the LiftSaver to help address the mounting issues.

Works with MG Xi5, Xi3 and MK Terrova, Ulterra, PD V2 and Riptides as well.

Went to the Motorguide website to check them out and I have a(?) Some of these units are listed with sonar only, some GPS only and some with both. How & why are either of these options significant if I were to purchase?

It's great for spotlock on brushpiles, docks, or submerged structure. I'm not a fan fishing bridges or timber with it but it's a game changer for what it's good at!!

Gps is motor guide anchor feature, called spotlock on Minn Kota. Sonar is internal sonar transducer that can be connected to a Sonar head but it is sonar only. No DI.
Depsndes on what you want the motor to do or provide.

I love mine. Doubled my catch rate instantly, and it feels more like youre a backseater in your own boat since youre not having to jack with the trolling motor all the time.

Hey thank ya'll for the responses, I appreciate it. My biggest hold back is figuring out how to pay for it without my bride finding out what its gonna cost... But I think I have that covered now. thumb
I wasn't sure how well it would work under bridges, but it is what it is...

2+yrs using ours. 3 blade prop is a great upgrade.
Holds great, no drift, quiet too!! Zero issues from our end. First one we bought was from TW and had some internal gps issues so we called MG and they overnighted another unit. Would definitely buy again. My 2cents
