I do a lot of creek fishing in the DFW area, Big Bear Creek, Little Bear Creek, ect... Would y'all eat fish from these creeks, or play it safe and toss them back?

Thanks

Mike

I'd release. No way I'd eat any of them.

If there is something like a large dam or levee between you and the trinity, no issues. If it does directly connect though you are at risk, with that being said you're more likely to be struck by lightning than become ill from toxins. I majored in this in college, would have zero issue personally eating fish from there either way.

Mountain Creek??? I won't eat ANY fish out of any Metromess area even IF it has a dam between it & the Trinity. A dam above the area(north/northwest) & above like Eagle Mountain doesnt concern me as much. Cleaner watershed. At least for now.

Mountain Creek? Ummm those creeks don't flow to Mountain Creek...they're in the Colleyville/Euless area. There's actually some not so broadcasted updated info on the contaminants that caused the Trinity consumption ban if you know how to read reports and surveys. Wouldn't be surprised if the ban is changed in the next 1-2-3 years, and if it's not then it should and they just are not changing it out of covering their own behinds. Studied this in college, I state clear to my name that I have no hesitation eating sand bass, largemouth, hybrids, or catfish from the main fork of the trinity.

If Trinity river feesh are bad then I should be daid a long time ago. No tellin how many thousand crappie and channels I et over the last 50 years out of the mighty Trinity, most of them caught above California crossing and some below all the way to where the west and elm forks meet.

Main Fork/Clear Fork is the part that has the consumption ban, Elm Fork is blocked by the dams so different stretch of water.

After we got rid of all the Tankers and Bombers at Carswell years ago, I'd think that
all that hydraulic fluid and jet fuel had drained off by now,..or most of it anyway..
I don't think there's too much anymore, those little jets don't use that much,..

The Mountain Creek lake issue was caused by the power plant dumping a bunch of the round transformers that hang on telephone poles into the lake many years ago and they were filled with oils containing PCB's. The issue was used to reduce the use of the lake enough that the Black college on the hill there was given control of parts of the lake on the east side. A conspiracy I think.

The Elm fork gets pretty close to the Trinity not far from the sewage control plant and the one low water dam really doesn't keep the fish from going north in high water conditions.
