Looking for a new transom saver. I currently use the old style that slides on the trailer roller and the lower unit but the rubber nubs are always breaking and then my lower unit gets scratched up. I have a Mercury 115 with a single ram cylinder so that limits my options. I came across this one today and the price is right but I don't know if I really trust it and thought that someone might have experience with it and could give some feedback. The other issue is that my unit has a slow bleed down and will gradually lower the unit ( I know I need to fix it but I haven't had the chance and it only does it out of the water so I have been putting it ont he back burner) so I am not sure if this saver would really hold up to the weight of the motor trying to compress it. It's the M-Y wedge http://www.m-ywedge.com/

I would be fine with the old transom saver if it would last. Having to keep buying the repair part with the rubber pads at $11 per side, it is just not worth it any more. I stopped by Cabelas today and picked up the m-y wedge and am going to give it a try.

I used to always fold a towel up and put it between the transom saver and lower unit.

Well, just to give an update in case anyone else is thinking about it, I put it on last night and lowered the motor to see how it held up over night. Worked fine. I took the boat out today to see how it did on the road. It seems to do what they say. The boat seemed secure and I didn't see any unusual bouncing of the motor going down the road. Really easy to put on and takes up no space to store. For $40 I am pretty pleased. We will see how it holds up long term. It seems to be made of pretty stiff rubber like material and has just a little give for about an inch when you lower the motor onto it.
