Is there really THAT much difference in these two lenses? The price difference is huge so I wanted to see what thoughts you guys have.

I've owned both and it's not a huge difference. They don't make the 400 anymore. Just the 580p and 580g

slightly better trying both back and forth in sun. if you didn't have both to compare side by side you wouldn't notice

IMO, the whole reason to buy Costa's is for the 580 lense - Glass or PLastic. Glass is the best but a little heavy . The plastic is lighter on your face but has a tendency to scratch if you drop them.
The Costa frame fit is also very important. Make sure you try them on to know what Frame best fits your face.
Maui Jim is another VERY good sunglasses with top notch lense and Customer Service.
If your budget is on the $100-140 range, I would look at Amphibia's - they make a really good product too.

As everyone has stated above, it honestly is a huge difference. I am selling a pair of mine (Tuna Alley 580G) if you are interested?

400 glass was a little heavier when I compared them to 580. Not a huge difference but every little bit helps because while I love Costas the superior glass lenses make for a relativly heavy pair of glasses in my opinion. Maybe cus I only wear the large-xlarge water headed styles. Kind of a non point any more because the 400s arent manufactured anymore unless you are looking at some remaining stock an independent dealer has.

My experience is that they're similar and very good. Hard to go wrong with Costas....
